A Sobering Diagnosis

Our poor Sophie has been battling really bad eczema since she was born. Her skin was really good for the first few weeks, but after that it got progressively worse. We tried different creams, lotions, and soaps, but nothing really helped. The heat seemed to make it worse, salt water pool swimming made it better. At her 4 month well checkup, one of her doctors switched her to soy formula. That really didn't seem to help, so I took her last week, right after she turned 5 months old, and went to see her other doctor. We both agreed her whole body was a "hot mess"! I was given the option of putting her on hypoallergenic formula, and having a wait and see....or that, PLUS a blood test to check for food allergies. I opted for both, really wanting to get her cleared up if at all possible. Well, her results finally came back today...and it was not at all what I expected. She is allergic to:
Soy
Peanuts
Wheat
Eggs

This will definitely be a challenge for our family, but praise the Lord we finally know! The scariest thing for me will be carrying the EpiPen. I have to go pick them up, her doctor called the prescription in for her already. Our grocery bill just got bigger....the formula is $22 for a small can, versus $15 for the big can we were buying. I can't believe she did as well as she did for the whole MONTH she was drinking soy, only to find out she was allergic to it! Bless her heart, I feel so bad! I'm glad to know about the peanuts too, we are all about some peanut butter at our house!!

Pray for Sophie and for us!!
